Mushroom Forest Walk

Oregon seems to be home to thousands of mushroom hunters. I am not a mycologist compared to these folks. But let's not compare ourselves to others now, shall we? What I am is someone who likes to walk slowly in wet, soft ground; where my footsteps below sound softer than the raindrops above. Here's what my littlest one and I found the other day...

Slippery Jacks, Turkey Tails and Oysters. I dried the Slippery Jacks to powder into a flavoring salt. The Turkey Tails I'll tincture. Ate the Oysters for dinner.

Oysters simmering in butter

Clockwise from top: Oysters in butter with pastured duck liver and onions; homemade kraut and pickles, deviled pastured eggs, salmon cakes (recipe from Nom Nom Paleo)
