This is a picture of one of my self-care altars. An online discussion about reconciling the need for prescription meds and the desire to live in a way that’s deeply connected to nature prompted me to share this. I have a few of these stations scattered around the house to remind me to pause and tend to my heart/body/mind, but this is the biggest one, in the kitchen where I’ll see it first thing in the morning. I collect old metal tins and trays and since I really like the way this looks, I don’t mind it being on the counter, and because it’s on the counter I actually remember to take them. It’s a mix of modern Rx from the chemist, store-bought potions, and woodland remedies friends and I have made. I’ve got my meds here, suppliments, tinctures, hydrosols, flower essences, and a little wooden bowl to hold jewelry, crystals and other small treasures.
With gratitude to the teachers and wise ones at shaktirising.org for introducing me to this practice years ago.
How do you sanctify your meds? Special pillbox? Wash them down with water in a pretty teacup? Put little googly eyes on the bottle and give them pet names? Show and tell, y’all!
